The Communist Party of India – Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML) held a protest meeting in Patna in front of the Buddha Smriti Park, over the recent incidents of communal frenzy across the state. The speakers at the protest appealed to the local citizens to maintain communal harmony. The CPI-ML has vigorously accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of practicing communital polarization in the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Mehboob Alam, the legislature party leader in the state assembly, expressed that the Union Home Minister’s visit to the state was part of this ploy to try and reignite the communal tensions. He has expressed his discontent with BJP for the efforts to reignite the tensions, and voiced his opposition against the politics of hatred and division in the country.

In a press conference held earlier, the CPI-ML leaders have demanded an investigation into the role of the local MLA and Superintendent of Police (SP) from Biharsharif. They have alleged that Muslim youths were being targeted by the local administration in the region.

The CPI-ML is a Marxist-Leninist political party in India, that traces its origin to the united communist movement in India, and claims to bring together a whole range of democratic, socialist and communists forces in India. They have a goal of a socialist and democratic India, and strive to achieve the same.

Mehboob Alam is a Member of Legislative Assemble, who hails from the Muslim minority community, and is a leader of CPI (ML). He is actively engaged in the struggle against the communal violence in India. He has also spoken out against corruption and is a strong proponent of communal harmony.
