Former US President Trump Appears in Manhattan Court for Criminal Charges

On Tuesday, former US President Donald Trump arrived at a Manhattan court in possibly the first of its kind experience where a President has been charged with criminal charges. Accompanied by his attorney’s, Trump was to be arraigned for various counts of business fraud related to paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels prior to 2016’s presidential election. Trump has denied any wrongdoings.

The court proceedings were expected to be swiftly conducted and would take about 10-15 minutes. After, the former President is set to fly back to his Florida home where he is set to make remarks at Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach.

Security in New York was tightened and hundreds of Trump supporters had gathered, hoping to rally behind the veteran Republican. At the same time, New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, has warned of any potential disorder or law breaking.

Trump and his name have been a part of the political scene since the mid-seventies and is an American business magnate, as well as a television and political personality. Over the years he has been involved in multiple unsuccessful ventures yet he is known for his reality game show: The Apprentice – which became reality shows ever, earning Trump a big name in television.

In recent years the Trump name has become synonymous with US government and politics, and the Nov 2020 election served as his latest stake for the White House. Despite facing charges, Trump has indicated that he intends to run for the white house in 2024 and his supporters are hoping to get him elected. Regardless of the outcome of the charges, it is clear that Trump’s name will remain firmly rooted in the US political scene.
