The heated altercation between YS Sharmila, President of the YSRTP, and the communists of Telangana came to a head when she visited the CPM party office on Tuesday, with the opposition leader accusing them of acting as the B-team of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Munugode. Opposing her initiative of forming the Telangana Students’ Action For Vacancies and Employment (T-Save) forum, the Left took this opportunity to demand that Sharmila resort to bilateral discussion before taking further steps.
Tammineni Veerabhadram, the state secretary of CPM, admitted to entertaining Sharmila’s presence out of due respect for her father YS Rajasekhara Reddy, revealed their disapproval for her approach and said their party would only come to a conclusion once the state committee meets to discuss Sharmila’s proposal. With a clear stance on their relationship with the BJP, Veerabhadram said the Left party would not back any organization with its connection to the current ruling party.
In response, Sharmila reminded the party that the YSRTP’s mission has been to fight for the rights of people against the tyranny of both the BJP and the TRS lead by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. She also stated that it will bring all opposition parties of Telangana together to stand up against the ruling government.
The YSRTP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) is a political party founded in 2018 by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, with its charismatic leader YS Sharmila at the helm. With a strong support base in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and its mission to fight for the rights of the rural communities of Telangana, the party aims to emerge as a formidable political power and an alternate option to the ruling parties.
CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) is a deep-rooted party in India and its regional wing in Telangana is the TRS (Telangana Rastayi Samithi). Led by their state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, the party has carved a niche for itself in Telangana for the past several years and works hard to represent the interests of the marginalized communities in Telangana. The party is also known for its bold actions and opposition to the BJP’s politics.
