Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma was recently invited to dinner by the Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck during his two-day visit in India. Sharma felt honored to meet him and to share King’s thoughts about the future.

Sharma started Paytm from his bedroom in Noida at the age of 24 and helped pioneer the transformation of the digital payments industry in the world’s second most populous country.

The dinner between Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Sharma focused on topics related to strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Bhutan, as well as ways to bolster economic cooperation. During the dinner, Sharma was enthralled by the King’s vision for the future.

Prior to the dinner, King Jigme also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as several other Indian business leaders. During their meeting, both leaders discussed China’s attempts to expand its influence in the Himalayan nation. Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lotay Tshering also recently noted China’s role in resolving the border dispute related to the Doklam tri-junction.
