The Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently charged the Telangana government of not cooperating in completing projects. In response, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Minister for Industries, Urban Development and IT K.T. Rama Rao has asked Prime Minister Modi to name any state which outperformed Telangana in the past nine years.
Through social media, Mr. Rama Rao listed the progress made by the State of Telangana since its formation in 2014. It is the state with the highest per capita growth, first state to provide treated drinking water to all its homes, completed the world’s largest lift irrigation project ‘Kaleshwaram’, and is also the best rural development model in the country with 100% open defecation free villages and second highest paddy producer in India.
In addition, Telangana has created the highest number of IT jobs, achieved the highest green cover growth of 7.7%, bagged the second highest number of awards for municipalities in the country, tops the list in ease of doing business, houses the world’s largest textile park ‘Kakatiya Mega Textiles Park’, highest per capita energy consumption in the country, second largest renewable energy producer in the country and is among the top four contributors to the country’s GDP.
Notably, Hyderabad was also rated the best Indian city for five consecutive years (2015-20) and Telangana has the least corruption rate according to a recent survey.
K.T. Rama Rao has expressed his disapproval of PM Modi for not admiring the good work done by Telangana and accused him of indulging in petty politics.
