Hollywood veteran Robert De Niro is making his way to the small screen with an upcoming crime drama series titled “Bobby Meritorious”. The show will be available for streaming on an American streaming service and is written by Billy Ray, who is best known for working on the movie “Captain Phillips”, “Terminator: Dark Fate” and “Gemini Man”. De Niro is expected to play the lead role in the upcoming show, in the role of Avery Accomando, an informant involved in the office’s largest case.
The series is set in the US Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, and follows Accomando as he attempts to upend the storied institution. The only way to stop him is with the assistance of a fabled ex-cop turned prosecutor, Bobby Meritorious, described in the official synopsis of the show. Indian-American lawyer Preet Bharara, the former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, will serve as one of the executive producers on the series, alongside De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Berry Welsh and Peter Gethers. The show is the second project in the streaming space to be signed by De Niro, who also stars in the upcoming OTT, “Zero Day”.
Apart from this project, Robert De Niro is also on board for several film projects, such as Barry Levinson’s “Wise Guys”, Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Tony Goldwyn’s upcoming feature “Inappropriate Behavior”.
Paramount Television Studios will be producing the series. Their roster of projects includes fan-favorite shows and movies such as Yellowstone, Jack Reacher and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. The production company has a long-standing history of creating high quality content and has earned numerous accolades including numerous Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe and Peabody awards.
