This fight week will be headlined by three star boxers – Shakur Stevenson, Gabriel “Bam” Rodriguez and Sebastian Fundora – who will all be taking center stage. Shakur Stevenson, who is only 25 years old, is viewed as one of the potential successors to the pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford. He recently lost his 130-pound title by missing weight before his fight against Robson Conceicao, yet still won the fight by a wide decision. Even before this fight, the young fighter had already impressed the public with convincing victories over Jamel Herring and Oscar Valdez. This Saturday’s opponent for Stevenson, Yoshino, is by no means an easy task for him, however. Yoshino, a 31-year-old boxer-puncher from Tokyo, has gained himself recognition in Japan with impressive wins over Masayuki Ito and Masayoshi Nakatani. Behind Stevenson, however, is a promotional team led by Bob Arum, who has much more grand plans for this young boxer if he wins the fight. In fact, Arum has said he hopes Stevenson can face the winner of the May 20th fight between Devin Haney, the current undisputed champion, and Vasiliy Lomachenko, a former titleholder.
